“The Axis Communications team had a fantastic time at Security & Fire Excellence Awards. The venue's layout was a real winner, making it easy to connect with everyone in the room. The food and service were exquisite. The music between awards was an exciting change from the norm, creating an energetic atmosphere among attendees. The band and host Rob Beckett were fantastic; everyone had an evening full of laughter and fun.
What stood out the most was the noticeable presence of women, both among the attendees and award recipients. It was great to see diversity being recognised in the industry. Thanks for a brilliant event as always. Really great to see so many friends and colleagues in the same place. The food was stunning, the entertainment was first class and the atmosphere second to none. Considering the volume of guests, I thought the Hotel staff delivered an amazing service. Rick Mounfield CSyP FSyI , Chief Executive, Security Institute
'Yet again another year of seeing the Security Excellence Awards delivering a 'show piece' sell out celebration to the industry. This event just seems to go from 'strength to strength' with some of our very best security professionals picking up awards for their amazing contribution over the last year. I have to say that the awards for our 'young talent' coming through is, without doubt most welcoming.'
Dr Peter Speight, MD, Future Risk Management
'My team were overwhelmed to win. There is sometimes little recognition as they work really hard behind the scenes to keep our guests and colleagues safe so to be recognised publicly was a fantastic feeling for them. Winning the Award has raised our profile within our own organisation and has motivated the team to strive to improve even more ... The night was well organised and the food was very good quality. The rock karaoke was a highlight and went down well with the team (especially as I got up on stage!)'
Tim Molden, Director of Security, The Savoy
"Another awesome evening at the Security Excellence Awards, they just get better each year. It was a great event and the submissions were of an even higher standard this year.'

'Security & Fire Excellence Awards evening is by far the most anticipated date in our calendar. We always love it – the Park Lane venue, the staging, the way it all runs so smoothly on the night – everything comes together to make it a really great networking opportunity and celebration. The host was an inspired choice for host this year too, very engaging with just the right balance of industry topics and humour.
Winning the award was a very special moment for all of us. When we were announced as the 'Security Project of the Year' the whole team was thrilled. It felt as if all our hard work was being recognized by the industry, our peers and everyone we respect. Well done yet again to the organisers.'
Darren Chalmers-Stevens, Director of EMEA & APAC, CriticalArc
Winning the award for the Holistic security system was certainly the highlight of our evening ... We are positive that this award is going to reflect positively on the business, and help us further promote our cyber security offering going forward. Businesses really trust the opinions of industry leaders such as IFSEC, and it is this trust that is essential when installing security projects. It shows that the products really do sell themselves, something which is a great motivation for the team.
There was a great atmosphere at the awards. The host did a good job of gaining the crowds attention, and we felt the whole evening ran very smoothly without much waiting around. We enjoyed the food and the evening entertainment, and generally were all very impressed with the experience and mingling with others within the industry.'

'We at Universal all agree that this year's event was a huge success, as always starting from the organisation of the event itself. This year's host professional handling of the presentations, helped to make the evening such a triumph. The entertainment was thoroughly enjoyed by all our team and by the clients that we brought along, which overall resulted in an entertaining evening. We would like to thank all the organisers for hosting such a successful evening once again, and we look forward to being welcomed back next year.'
Jimmy Crouch, Director, Universal Security Systems
‘It was another smashing evening and I very much enjoyed the evening especially with the seating plan you put together. Where did the hours go? The evening was pure magic including the quite outstanding tricks played just before the awards began and was inclusive to all diners taking a part in; a theme for the evening being inclusive to all. The bar of becoming finalists has been lifted yet again, which was so evident during the judging process and commented on by my fellow judges. Finalists should have felt very worthy to have reached those positions capped only by those ultimate winners of the various categories. You could feel the palpable good feel factor throughout the evening from winners to and including the finalists. What an evening and I look forward to how bar the will go in 2018.’
Gerald Moor, Chief Executive Officer, The Inkerman Group
‘The award night was a great success. The quality of the evening, the animation and the food, is a perfect representation of the dynamism and efficiency of the UK security and fire Industry. Great industry, great people, great atmosphere.
As a foreigner, but yet based in the UK, it was a privilege to judge and attend the 2017 edition. I am looking forward to the 2018 one.’
Cedrick Morigg, Head of group security and business resilience, Rio Tinto

Caroline Bashford, Director of Training, THESMA
‘ I am able to give accolades to a number of elements of the evening. I never cease to be amazed at the quality of the food that is produced at this event. Given numbers of circa 950 diners who are all served within several minutes of each other, with an innovative menu of piping hot and superbly cooked food of super quality, I can’t fault the meal or its service in any way. The attentiveness and subsequent responsiveness of the staff at each table station was another plus point for me. … congratulations on the organisation and all of the background efforts’
Nigel J Carpenter FSyI RISC, Principal Consultant, Nigel Carpenter Associates Ltd
‘The Security Industry in general is pretty poor at celebrating its successes so it is vital that awards ceremonies are supported. The Security Institute attended and hosted a table of our members to a fantastic night of fine dining and entertainment. The Security and Fire Excellence awards is how we should be recognising our high achievers. Companies and individuals alike feel special and valued by the industry. Congratulations to for hosting a fantastic evening!’
Rick Mounfield, Chief Executive, The Security Institute
‘The Security & Fire Excellence Awards showcases companies and people from across the UK. This is a celebration of innovation. As a judge I have the honour of seeing so many fantastic entries but there can only be one winner per category . The standards are rising year on year which means that end users are being given more solutions that can help them in maintaining safe and secure environments. The organisers maintain the best quality event from event organisation to food to entertainment . And this year not one person out 1000 could fail to be confounded as to how Ben Hanlin the ITV magician tricked the whole audience’
Peter J French MBE, Certified Protection Professional, Fellow of the Security Institute
‘I felt privileged to be invited to such an important event in the Security & Fire calendar and to present, on behalf of the ISCE, the 'Communication Product of the Year' award. The entertainment was hilarious and the awards, hosted by the charming Gaby Logan, were seamless in their delivery. It was fabulous to catch up with so many industry colleagues, in the grand setting of The Hilton, Park Lane and my congratulations to the organisers for their tremendous achievements in delivering yet another superb event.’
Ros Wigmore, Manager, ISCE

‘The standard of the award entries increases every year. The support of IFSEC is critical in providing a platform where entrants can demonstrate their professionalism, innovation and value to a global market. The Security Excellence Awards retains a magic and expectation for all entrants. ‘From the website entry process through to the night itself, this is one of the most professional, likeable, well-organised Awards programmes to enter. In addition, to attend a night with around 800 sector peers, including many if not most of the prime movers and shakers, the dinner is an occasion worth the entry in itself. A quality MC like Jimmy Carr also makes a huge difference. Many thanks to the organisers, not only for a wonderful evening at the Hilton on Park Lane – and the fact that the event helps support two charities is very welcome – but also for the whole shebang from the prompt to enter, through to collecting the trophy at the end.’
Anthony Owen, Managing Director, VPS (UK) Ltd

‘We had another fabulous evening at the Security & Fire Excellence Awards. There was a lot of goodwill in the room, and great to see so many friends. To anyone critical of the sector being fragmented and unprofessional, they should see how together we all celebrated the highest standards and service delivery – very definitely an event we are proud to be associated with. Long may it continue.’
Di Thomas, Development Manager, Security Institute

Nigel Stanley MSc (Lond.) CEng MIEEE MIET MBCS, Practice Director, Cyber Security
‘The 2015 Security and Fire Excellence Awards provided another excellently organised evening, the number of awards demanded a disciplined approach from our host Jimmy Carr and he delivered that in spades. As well as managing the audience brilliantly Jimmy also pitched his material perfectly to the audiences delight, as he engaged with one or two members of the audience with his dry ascorbic wit. Notwithstanding the usual opportunity to meet up with old a new friends, the other judges & colleagues in the industry, I believe a good night was had by all.’
Ian Fowler, Senior Consultant (Digital Buildings), Mott MacDonald Limited

‘It was a great surprise to win, and one that provoked a round of large grins and back slapping. I was with our partner in development of the winning product and it was nice to have the hard work and innovation recognised independently. I think in my enthusiasm I gave Jimmy a big squeeze and cut short of planting a kiss!! We enjoyed the event very much. It was nice to meet fellow entrants and past winners and network with like-minded individuals. It clearly showed that our Industry is buoyant and the people that were present possessed a great deal of energy and entrepreneurialism needed to push technology and develop people in our fields of expertise.’
Ian Bartle, Managing Director, Nobel Fire Systems Ltd
'CIS Security scooped the Security & Fire Excellence Award for Inspiration in HR and achieved recognition as runner’s up in four other categories, Guarding Company of the Year, ACS Champion of the Year, and Manager of the Year.
CIS’s winning submission was focused around the achievements of the HR team in areas such as streamlining of the SIA licensing process, employee development, and engagement and the “20% by 2020” initiative to encourage more women into the security profession.
Amanda McCloskey, Sales & Marketing Director is full of praise for the CIS Teams – “Well done to the HR department for being so inspirational and thanks to everyone who contributed to making such an impact at the ‘Oscars of the Security World’ this year”.
'Being the last award of the night, the room was getting a little boisterous, I listened to the announcement, with that level of nervousness I have felt before at this point. We were all looking at each other, hoping for a win. When the winners were being announced I was listening out for Northern Rail, so as the words Stay Safe were said (even though that’s our programme), it didn’t register, and for a split second, I thought we hadn’t done it…this of course all happened so quickly, so as Northern Rail were announced, our table erupted into a frenzy of cheer and applause. It was simply amazing, I was like a ridiculous Cheshire cat, we were absolutely delighted and honoured to win.
It is a little different for us I feel, as a rail operator, rather than a business selling a commodity. Our people are our biggest asset, and this award was all about them, ensuring we do our best to keep them safe at work. This global, multi-industry award, helps us measure ourselves not just in rail, but across a whole range of businesses, and that makes this all the more special. This win will help us demonstrate to our people how we care, to our industry that we are leaders and for me…it’s another personal success'
Martyn Guiver, Head of Crime Management, Northern Rail
'For me it was a pleasure to attend the fantastic IFSEC's Security & Excellence Awards in 2014 and when Alistair McGowan said our name it was an incredible moment.
We were all excited to have been selected as finalists. The staff of Parson had looked forward to the evening hoping to be among the winners, and our customers were pleasantly surprised that so young a company was one of the finalists.
The news of the victory spread with great enthusiasm, and we received messages of congratulations from clients, friends and partners.
This victory is an exceptional stimulus for our team and for the development of new projects that will be presented next year, as we work on new ideas that express the way we experience the world around us.'
Alessandro Liani, Video Systems CEO, Parson General Manager
'We were thrilled when our name was announced on the evening. The judges described our work as; ‘This quality winning project reflects excellence in fire engineering, using technology and engineering from first principles and cutting edge research from around the world.’ To see our work recognised by others in the industry made all the effort and hard work worthwhile.
We are very proud to support IFSEC's Security & Fire Excellence Awards and use the winners logo to underline our commitment to the provision of technically demanding services and to excellence in the fire industry. Our experts use this as a positive marketing tool when developing business, both with existing and new customers, and we look forward to continuing a positive relationship in the future.'
Chris Hughes BEng (Hons), CEng, MIFireE, Associate, Fire Engineering (Europe), Exova Warringtonfire
'Our team were thrilled to hear the name of OCS being read out as winners of The Security Partnership Initiative of the Year category, and felt tremendously proud to receive the award on behalf of all our security teams involved with the NEC Group contract. The award is true testament to how closely OCS and the NEC Group work together to create a safe and secure environment for everyone who visits their venues.
This win is a massive boost for all our staff involved in the security operations across the four venues that make up the NEC Group. To receive an external accreditation and acknowledgement of the services we provide is a fantastic endorsement of what we do. The partnership Initiative recognises how close all the stakeholders within the NEC contract work together, to one united aim. The award will help us to be recognised as a supplier of choice for many other businesses, and the employer of choice for many people employed within the security industry.'
Paul Thrupp, Account Director, OCS Group UK Limited
'We felt very apprehensive on the night realising we were up against some very good innovative products in our category. When we heard we had been selected as the winner we felt very excited and over the moon realising the significance of what this award means to our business.
As a Finnish company, this IFSEC's Security & Fire Excellence Awards means a great deal to us. It gives credibility and recognition to our product within our market sector and comes after much hard work to develop and market this cooker safety product for the UK market. All of us at Innohome feel proud and are pleased the hard work put in to produce a product to increase cooker safety has been worthwhile. We believe this recognition will increase awareness and help Innohome to grow in the years ahead.'
Pertti Haavisto, Managing Director, Innohome
